'Indian Hotel Industry' is adding about 60,000 quality rooms in 2010-11,the manpower requirements of the hotel industry will increase by few millions in by 2010-11.
India is well known for its varied natural beauties and its traditional hospitalities , a large number of tourists both foreign and domestic visit numerous tourist spots spread over the country. Moreover, with the increasing number of foreign direct investments coming to the country, a huge number business representatives and professionals are visiting India , and the business executives of the Indian companies are also visiting the countries extensively in the backdrop of diversifications, expansions and increasing number of foreign collaborations. According to the tourism ministry, 4.4 million tourists visited India in 2009 and at current trend, demand will soar to 10 million in 2011 and to accommodate 350 million domestic travelers. 'Hotels in India' has a shortage of 150,000 rooms whereas only 5,000 rooms were added in the last five years. 'Indian Hotel Industry' is adding about 60,000 quality rooms, currently in different stages of planning and development and should be ready by 2012. MNC Hotel Industry giants like Starwood, Accor, Swissotel Marriott, Fairmont are flocking India and forging Joint Ventures to earn their share of pie in the race. The domestic hospitality majors like Leela Ventures, Oberoi, ITC, Taj Group of Hotels are also expanding too and raising their standards in the expectation that the demand for hotel rooms will skyrocket when Delhi hosts the Commonwealth Games. Government has approved 300 hotel projects, nearly half of which are in the luxury range. Therefore, with opportunities galore the future 'Scenario of Indian Hotel Industry' looks rosy.
All this will transformed in the demand for few millions of professionally qualified hospitality personnel not only in traditional hotel and restaurants but also in resorts, airlines, tour operators, cruise and tourism development organizations.
The Hospitality Management course which include in its wing Hotel Management, Catering Technology, Hotel Maintenance, Nutrition, Hotel Accounting , Hotel Business Laws will equip the students with professional skill required to grab the glamorous jobs in Hospitality Sectors.
